UK Purchasing Manager

Dynamic international business is looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead multi-site and indirect purchasing across the UK. This global manufacturing organisation currently has a very tactical purchasing function and the business opportunity is to initiate and implement a strategic sourcing framework across the category areas. Reporting into the CEO this newly created role has appropriate Board level engagement and will effect change across the business and various stakeholder groups
The Purchasing Manager will be instrumental in shaping and delivering the strategic and category management process (within effectively a “greenfield purchasing environment) to ensure a best practise and flexible procurement/sourcing delivery model.
Key areas of influence will be:
- Manage external procurement spend of £40m+ in a fast paced environment with complex lead times
- Lead and manage a small direct team and influence a large indirect stakeholder group within both site and corporate functions
- Develop key strategic supplier relationships to drive collaborative benefits
- Develop existing systems and processes to support effective procurement, SLA’s, Supplier Relationship Management
This is a varied and demanding role that will require a Purchasing Manager who has led from the front – who can combine the appropriate strategic influence at senior management level with a hands on, pragmatic style to deliver effective and sustainable solutions into the business.
Strong experience within Heavy Industry (Capital Intensive) sectors with Capital Engineering, Process Engineering, MRO related Purchasing will be looked on favourably but the key element for this business is the style and approach of the individual and their ability to engage with and influence other stakeholders.
