General Manager / Operations Director

A customer focused Operations Director/General Manager with a successful track record delivering turnaround and performance improvement in blue-chip manufacturing roles. Whether operating as a single site GM or in a multi-site leadership role, has had full P&L and performance responsibility with a focus on improving group profitability, product availability and quality, H&S performance and cash generation.

Key Experience & Achievements include:

  • MBA, Six Sigma Green Belt – French business language
  • P&L responsibility for the growth of multi-site manufacturing operations in both direct and matrix managed environments.
  • Experienced in developing individuals and building international teams in order to effectively execute the business strategy.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills to ensure effective use of resources in the planning, budgeting, tracking and successful implementation of cross functional projects.
  • Aligns operational tactics with business strategies, gaining stakeholder engagement and building trust and credibility.
  • Delivered an average of 4% year-on-year variable cost reductions over 3 years.
  • Implemented operational metrics across group operations improving OTD delivery by more than 40%, leading to a 10% reduction in inventory holding value whilst reducing customer complaints by 65%
  • Implemented multiple group wide processes including; Capex planning, Sales Forecasting and Sales & Operations Planning.

 

Finance Director ACCA MBA

Experienced commercial Finance Director, with exposure to the manufacturing, retail, service and engineering sectors. Having worked closely with MD’s, CEO’s and COO’s in a number of high profile positions, both as a Divisional FD and as the CFO of a private equity backed business. Operated both in the UK and internationally, key skills include strategy development, ERP implementation, business performance improvement, risk management, implementations of finance control systems, business transformation/turnaround, shared service centre set-up and change management.

Key Experience & Achievements include:

As the CFO of a private equity backed £25m t/o business

  • Partnered the Managing Director and CEO, working on financial and M&A strategy, and to strengthen overall financial controls.
  • Financial liaison with private equity partner to ensure investment and returns across portfolio are delivered in line with projections.
  • A lead corporate and operational role, responsible for al aspects of financial management and heading of a team of ten who covered the development of new management reports, including development of KPI monitoring.

As the FD of a £400m t/o division of an International PLC

  • Support the MD in maximizing the business performance, via recommendations to optimise financial returns and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Financial lead on all key decisions, including the commercial review of contracts, pricing and execution plans, ensuring expected improvements are delivered internationally via six direct reports.
  • Leading best practice, held a number of positions on development steering committees aimed at delivering excellence in structure, process and operations.

Head of Supply Chain

An analytical and cost focussed professional with broad supply chain experience covering the management of  planning, purchasing, warehousing, logistics and customer services. Combines analytical expertise with operational and strategic experience to deliver significant improvements to all business supply chain operations.

Key Experience & Achievements include:

  • Reduced annual warehouse and transport costs by more than 50% via a cycle of improvements; consolidated 3 national warehouses and integrating three subcontract transport operations to one in-house fleet.
  • Improved packing operations & processes to reduce daily complaints by 75%
  • Introduced a new WMS system (including RF scanning) whilst totally restructuring  warehouse layout (17,000 locations) and annual stock write off by £1.1m
  • Achieved £1.1m purchasing savings whilst reducing supplier base from 2200 to 830
  • Increased OTIF delivery performance from 82% to 98.2% whilst  introduced rolling stock forecasting that massively reduced stockholding

 

Purchasing Manager

An MBA and MCIPS qualified purchasing professional with a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma who has a track record of successful cost reduction and business improvement working across a number of direct and indirect commodity areas and categories.

Key Experience & Achievements include:

  • Responsible for identifying, initiating and leading cross-functional change and strategy deployment projects, contract negotiation, day to day management of the supplier and internal customer relationship management for multiple factories across 3 continents
  • Led operational improvement workshops attended by site leadership teams at two major suppliers. Process changeover reductions amounting to a 5%+ increase in plant capacity were identified
  • Achieved an annual cost savings of £500k whilst frequently delivering and presenting innovative sustainable packaging solutions for customers including several major multiple retailers
  • Led several change management projects within the Procurement function that identified process improvements whilst reducing resource requirements; Led a team to re-engineer and implement a new supply chain for a major product in a short timescale to deliver major cost savings to the business
