Client
A national media company with several branded UK businesses. The organization was looking to relocate its back office in the UK and required an IT Project Manager to facilitate the transition. At the same time as the relocation a new IT system was being rolled out across the business.
Objective
The objective was ultimately a seamless transition during the relocation and IT change over. The person needed to have excellent interpersonal and project management skills to ensure the services delivered to the internal customers were kept to a high standard and that the team on the project were kept motivated throughout the process (the relocation would lead to some job losses). Previous experience of managing a project of this nature was essential.
Method
The nature of the role meant that the appointment would be fixed term in nature, so candidates in permanent roles were unlikely to be interested. We used a mixture of targeted internet advertising along with a search of our network of contacts to identify candidates that had the right qualities.
Result
Three candidates were submitted for the role, all who had given a commitment to deliver the project to completion if they were appointed. One candidate was appointed and the project was delivered on time.
