Head of Supply Chain – Ref: 114553

Senior industrial supply chain manager with extensive experience in logistics and process improvement. Wide ranging international experience and successful career progression within a leading blue chip manufacturing business and most recently within a manufacturing and industrial products supply chain. Part of the core UK Management Team, accountable for the full supply chain within the UK business including procurement, warehousing, customer service, demand planning, distribution, S&OP and inventory management.

Key Experience & Achievements include:

  • Full end to end supply chain and inventory management across 2,500 SKUs, with a spend responsibility of £30M. Initially employed to lead the Supply Chain elements of a SAP implementation running coincident to a business merger.
  • From a zero-base ensured all key processes were documented to then align the business needs with SAP capability, developing numerous Excel-based tools to meet any capability gaps in process and reporting. A measure of the success is that the business achieved budget for all sales, profit, service and inventory metrics since go-live.
  • Established the Sales and Operational Planning (S&OP) cycle within the business to align demand planning and supply planning activities. Consequentially forecast accuracy by product group improved from <70% to >90%, OTIF service on key accounts improved from <75% to >98%, whilst simultaneously reducing inventory by ~£1M (26%).
  • Led the OP&S activities across multiple manufacturing plants globally across all key business product groups, promoting best practice to reduce cost through identifying synergies.
  • Formed and led a cohesive supply chain team of 24 people spread across 14 countries in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Kept a strong team ethic through regular communication, essential to service a rapidly globalising customer base.
  • Established consistent planning processes, KPIs and reporting across the plants to facilitate information sharing, improve responsiveness and reduce costs.
  • Key player in providing a rapid response to the 2009 financial crisis by developing plans to reshape the asset footprint to reduce cost and bring capacity back in line with a 25% reduction in demand, whilst retaining service levels and flexibility to respond to any upturn.
  • Developed 5-year supply plan for new market that drove an investment programme of $400M to increase capacity from 100kT to 500kT over 3 years.
